In contrast to a man only looking to satisfy his sexual needs, such as a “john” visiting an escort, the sugar daddy also seeks companionship for meetings that resemble traditional dates.

In my experience, a sugar relationship is an amorphous blend of having a traditional or “vanilla” girlfriend, a friends with benefits, and an escort, although I have never seen the latter.

One Reddit commenter described a sugar relationship as “keeping an escort on retainer”, although the women I’ve met through sugaring would be deeply offended by the use of that word.
The New Reality
Previously, the typical man that would consider a sugar relationship would be in his 60s, if not older.
Sugaring, which is paying women directly for their company, would usually be the only way he could access younger women.
